Scouting with Covid-19

14th Galway new Scout Trail

As we face challenges ahead brought on by COVID-19, we are reinventing our Scouting offering. The COVID-19 challenge is leading us to an innovative mix of virtual, indoor and outdoor programmes that handle the pandemic climate and risks, and prepares 21st century young people for the associated societal challenges ahead.

We are combining both traditional scout methodologies and the latest internet and mobile technologies to create a new Scouting Trail that allows us to handle the uncertain future and continues to offer young people the opportunity for personal development and growth together with their peers. Scouting is a Movement and is again rising to the new challenges ahead.

Scouting is a voluntary pastime and we don't put anyone under pressure to participate. We continually try to put together a program that minimizes risk and still promotes the growth and development of the young people who can and want to participate. During meetings and events, everyone is reminded of social distancing protocols, and hand sanitizer is made available. When required by weather or lockdown, we will move to an online programme.
