2020, the year of Covid-19. In August 2020, our scouts went on annual camp in Wexford. This was an unusual year to camp, and changes were made, as they are every where, to decrease the risk.

We traveled to Wexford on a bus, masks on! And everyone got their own tent. That didn't stop us from scouting - ropes courses, pioneering, s'mores on the campfire all made their appearance.

In July 2019, our scouts went on annual camp. This 10 day camp in Dublin gave them time to perfect their skills in:

camping - scouts spend the year learning to pitch tents, build fires, chop wood safely, camp in shelters, and get to perfect those skills while on a longer camp

pioneering - building a raised firepit for cooking and a dining area using just poles and ropes

cooking over an open fire - scout groups planned their own meals and cooked them in small groups

whittling - for those scouts who were interested and shown diligence to safety, they could learn and practice their wood whittling skills during camp

fun! - of course annual camp has plenty of fun built in. This year was Tayto Park, a water park, a hike, and a trip to Dublin city!

In June 2019, a few of our scouts went to Dublin to the Youth Council Meeting for Ireland. They got a chance to tell their stories of how scouts have benefited them.

We have a scout that joined 4 years ago that could not climb a mountain, now he leads hikes.

We have a scout that joined 3 years ago that was worried about traveling, and last year she went with the group to Manchester for Annual camp and had a fabulous time!

We have a scout in our group who joined late and knew nothing about scouts - now he is a patrol leader.
